“But what if she doesn’t want to come back with me?” Eliezer asked.

“If she doesn’t want to come,” replied Avraham, “then you are free from your promise. I will not send Yitzchak to Charan.”

Eliezer loaded ten camels with valuable things, and left on his journey.

When Eliezer arrived in Charan, he stopped at a well to pray to Hashem. “Please help me, Hashem, and be kind to my master Avraham. If I ask a girl for a drink and she gives both me and my camels water to drink, let that be a sign that she is the right wife for Yitzchak.”

Before he even finished praying, Rivkah approached and drew water from the well. Eliezer ran to her. “Can you please give me some water from your jug?” he asked. “Here, drink this water,” she said. When he finished, she said, “I will also give water to your camels.” She ran back and forth to the well until all ten camels had enough water to drink.

“Whose daughter are you?” Eliezer asked. “Is there room in your house for me and the camels to stay tonight?”

“I am the daughter of Besuel,” she replied. “We have plenty for you to eat, and a place for you to stay.”

Besuel was Avraham’s nephew. When Eliezer realized that Rivkah was Avraham’s relative, he was very happy. “Thank you, Hashem,” he said, “for bringing me to the right place.”

He went with Rivkah to her house and met her father Besuel and her brother Lavan. “I have come to find a wife for Yitzchak, my master Avraham’s son,” he explained. “Please send Rivkah back with me to marry Yitzchak.”

Besuel and Lavan agreed. The next day, Rivkah was asked if she wanted to go with Eliezer. “I will go,” she answered. Her family blessed her and sent her on her way.

Eliezer brought Rivkah back to Yitzchak. He saw that Rivkah was just like his mother, Sarah. They married and Yitzchak loved her very much.

Eliezer saw how kind Rivkah was and immediately chose her to be Yitzchak’s wife. He used the test of kindness to find the right person.
